I'm so sorry, man. I've had a great time using Vim with Dvorak, it's too bad it doesn't work out for you. I don't do any funny remapping, I just learned Vim in Dvorak, but you can always make the normal-mode keys work like QWERTY and do the actual typing in Dvorak.

There are definitely ways to do it, but it sounds like you gave up long ago. Never too late to give it another try, though!
